Polka dots and stripes are the choice of most fashion designers this summer. Polkas of large and variant colours worn in skirts, high-necked blouses, color co-ordinated into soft flowy dresses, ensembled with sheers, fringes and frills, they added to the fun yet chic spirit of the spring/summer line-ups.

Nicole Farhi’s dresses, belts, skirts, shorts, were inspired by Claude Monet, the French Impressionist’s work. Light and bright prints of the maestro’s paintings, stripes and navy sweaters took to the catwalk. The hemline of the dresses were below the knees and had a charm of the earlier half of the previous century yet the silhouettes were tweaked, striped and ensembled in today’s chic. Continuing with the Monet theme, the footwear had floral motifs to bring in the meadow or pastoral feel of the outdoors making the overall collection light, colourful and very country.
Employing the vividness of emerald green, orange, brown, purple, red and gold or may be the softer tones and hues of grey, metallic, blue, beige, colours of natural landscapes, flowers, lakes and skies, the designers have poetically welcomed the warm sun. So this summer the colour trends are VIBGYOR as the catwalk was colourful with solid colour tees, blouses, made of sheers made of cashmere and silk blends, hemp, cotton, even bamboo. Consciously using ethically produced, eco-friendly, functional yet luxurious clothing. Tank tops, tees, shrugs, draped tops made of organic cotton lend a laidback feel, ideal for summer afternoons.

While Viridis Luxe presented cotton, Hala Bahmet explored hemp and made it look trendy, sexy and casual – making the models look comfy and sexy with the tie-neck blouses and various styles worn with denim jeans in melon, mint green, even hibiscus prints, balanced with little of basic black. These casuals were accessorised with thick link chains hats and umbrellas giving it a very wearable, not classic yet elegant collection for you to enjoy as it is practical street wear too.
